THE GREAT BAIT OF THE ENEMY: WALK BY SIGHT

We walk by faith, not by sight. This is for those of you who know you need to clean up your marriage; you need to clean up your act; you need to stop doing what you’re doing. You know you need to start going to church. You know you need to discipline yourself in some areas. You need to step out and do that thing that God is asking you to do. We WALK BY FAITH, not by sight!!! One of the ways that Satan can lie to us and tempt us with is that the wiser thing is to walk by sight, not by faith. If Satan can get you to walk by sight and not by faith, you are going to miss so many things that God has set aside for you!!! That is the great bait of the enemy: walking by what we see, and not by what we HEAR. The Bible says that faith comes by hearing the Word of the Lord. God’s ways are so much higher than ours; His ways are so much more different than ours; He works supernaturally, not by what we see.

Numbers 14:9

Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not fear the people of the land, for they are bread for us. Their protection is removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them.

When the spies went into the land, could they see with their eyes that God had removed the protection from the giants of the land so the Israelites could go and assume it? No, they could not see that with their eyes!! They had to believe by faith that God was going to do something supernatural in order for them to go take the land. They could not see the protection had been removed, and yet it was.

This is the great bait of evil. God tells you to go do something and you don’t see with your eyes that “the protection has been removed,” that the opportunity is truly there. All you see are GIANTS and BATTLES. All you see is the fact that you might be completely destroyed. What you need to believe is that “the protection has been removed. The Lord is with us; don’t fear.” Moving forward in faith if God says, “Go,” you have to believe that the same God who was operating on behalf of these 12 spies and was willing to remove the protection from the giants that could have massacred them is at work for you!!!!

Numbers 14:10-12

10 Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of the Lord appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.

11 And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them? 12 I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.”

They decided after God got mad to go and do what He said. The problem was that the moment had passed; there were now CONSEQUENCES. There were consequences for not believing God would do what He promised He would do; there were consequences for them walking by sight, and not by faith. There are consequences when we choose to walk by what we see and not believe that whatever God is calling us to, He is going to PROVIDE and SUSTAIN.

Numbers 14:40-45

40 And they rose early in the morning and went up to the heights of the hill country, saying, “Here we are. We will go up to the place that the Lord has promised, for we have sinned.” 41 But Moses said, “Why now are you transgressing the command of the Lord, when that will not succeed? 42 Do not go up, for the Lord is not among you, lest you be struck down before your enemies. 43 For there the Amalekites and the Canaanites are facing you, and you shall fall by the sword. Because you have turned back from following the Lord, the Lord will not be with you.” 44 But they presumed to go up to the heights of the hill country, although neither the ark of the covenant of the Lord nor Moses departed out of the camp.45 Then the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in that hill country came down and defeated them and pursued them, even to Hormah.

I want to be super sensitive and clear about this. When God asks you to do something, you must walk by what you cannot see, because He doesn’t work the way we work. The Israelites did not see that the protection was taken away, but they had a CHANGE OF HEART. It was almost as if they were so swayed in the other direction that they were like, “Ok, now that the Lord has told us that we’re not going to take the land for 40 years, I didn’t realize there was that consequence attached to disobeying.” When they disobeyed, they didn’t realize the harsh consequence that would come down on them for walking by sight, and not by faith. So they went up and tried overcome the giants and take the land, but the protection had been put back on the giants for 40 years.

I don’t know what you’re facing today, I just know that I want those of you who are walking by sight and are so proud in your practicality to know that God is never going to be so practical that you can predict all of His moves. We must walk by what we can’t see, FAITH, rather than what we can see.

I challenge you to think about how His ways are not our ways, they are so much higher!!!!! He wants to give you the fruit of the promised land, but you have to walk understanding that He WILL pave the way for you to get it!!!!!

Love you!!

THIS IS FOR YOU FACING DEFEAT

You didn’t get the promotion…you are getting a divorce…you are dealing with bankruptcy…you are facing some type of defeat.

A lot of times in Scripture, victory was wearing defeat’s tee-shirt. VICTORY looked like DEFEAT, and the defeat had to happen in order to gain something BIGGER, GREATER, AND BETTER!!! Either God is going to win in your life or Satan is. There are two sides to this fight that we face. You can go through a defeat and listen to the lies of the enemy and find yourself defeated, because you’ve listened and believed that you’re never going to be anything: “Well that was my one opportunity, and now it’s gone // Well I found my identity in that relationship, and now it’s over…” You can go through defeat, listen to the enemy, and be defeated OR you can go through defeat believing what God says is true: that HE WILL MAKE EVERYTHING WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSES!!!!!

2 Kings 4:1

1The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

She is telling the prophet of God, “Listen, my husband died, the creditors are banging on my door and I can’t pay the bills, they are going to take my children and get their money’s worth out of them as slaves because we can’t pay.”

DEFEAT. She was facing major DEFEAT. The most utmost of defeat. Elisha, the prophet of God, said to her:

2Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

She was defeated, but she had SOMETHING!!

3Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. 4Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”

So she believed in what the prophet was telling her. She ACTED upon the belief that the prophet of God was going to give her VICTORY while facing defeat.

5She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”

She could have allowed the creditors to take her sons and live a defeated life for the rest of her life. But she approached the prophet of God and said, “I’ve got this problem, you need to help me, you need to bring victory from it.” And HE DID.

I wonder how many of you are facing defeat today, and it is very, very REAL. You can go through defeat, Satan can win, and you can be defeated OR you can go through defeat believing that God will actually PRODUCE SOMETHING out of the defeat. Hello, look at Jesus who allowed Himself to be crucified – it looked like defeat, but HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD!!!!! Don’t let your defeat defeat you. Stand in the face of whatever it is that is coming at you and defeating you, and take it to the LORD, not your friends. TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE LORD. Say, “Lord this is not my problem, I surrender it to you because You have PROMISED ME VICTORY; You have to make something good come out of it, because I am called according to Your purpose!!!!”

I wonder how many of you are facing this and not believing what the Word of God says, but believing what the enemy is saying. I wonder how many are walking around facing defeat defeated, rather than facing defeat believing that God WILL BRING VICTORY out of it, believing that there is a RESURRECTION, believing that there is something GREATER!!!! Sometimes victory will wear defeat’s tee-shirt; it will disguise itself and we have to push through what we see with our eyes, and believe that GOD IS WORKING ON OUR BEHALF!!!!

I know from my first marriage what defeat feels like; I was facing defeat from everyone that was coming against me. I REFUSED TO ACCEPT DEFEAT!!! I REFUSED TO CAVE TO THE DEFEAT!!! I refused to operate under what other people said. I chose to believe that God was going to turn it out for HIS GLORY and for HIS PURPOSES because I WAS CALLED according to His purpose, and so are YOU!!!!

Don’t let defeat defeat you!!!! Let defeat give way to VICTORY for you!!!!

I love you guys // hope this encourages you today.

HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOURSELF INTO A MESS

Have you gotten yourself in some trouble? Did you make a bad decision? Did you get on the wrong path? Are you finding yourself in a relationship that has totally gone wrong? Did you start a sinful life pattern? Did you sin in a great way? Did you do something stupid? This is for you!!

God is so GRACIOUS and so FORGIVING, and I’m so thankful for that in my own life. Sometimes, we can make a turn and we do not count the costs and consequences; we don’t count what could happen if we make this decision. If we do this, what’s going to happen?

There are three kings in this passage of Scripture: the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom. They are going to fight Moab. They gather all their armies together to fight Moab. They march for seven days, and they RUN OUT OF WATER!!! You would think three kings would be wise enough to realize that you have to bring enough water on a trip for everyone for seven days. They ran out of water! You cannot live without water!!! What they did was stupid. They were in a big pickle.

2 Kings 3:14-20

14 Elisha said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you. 15 But now bring me a minstrel.” And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him. 16 He said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ 17 For thus says the Lord, ‘You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your cattle and your beasts. 18 This is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord; He will also give the Moabites into your hand. 19 Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’” 20 It happened in the morning about the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

“This is but a SLIGHT THING in the sight of the Lord.” Did they get themselves in trouble? Yes, they did. But, Jehoshaphat was smart enough to say, “We’ve gotten ourselves into trouble; we’ve done something stupid. We’ve run out of water. We don’t know where to get water. We need to inquire of the Lord.” They go and find Elisha and dig trenches with EXPECTATION that God is going to MIRACULOUSLY fill these trenches with water, and they will have water to drink. He caps off his request to them, his challenge to them, and says, “This is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord.” The Lord saved them!!!!

Have you gotten yourself into trouble? It is time to stop wallowing in guilt, depression, and frustration. You know you did it. You “left without water.” You feel like you can’t go on. You die without water; they felt like they couldn’t go on, because they went seven days without water. You feel like you are at the point of DESPERATION. It is time to STOP WALLOWING!!! Turn to the Lord! SEEK HIM. Admit, “Hey, I did something stupid.” REPENT; ask for forgiveness. Ask for the Lord to help you. Jehoshaphat helped them, gave them clear direction: they had to work; they had to dig a trench, then God was going to come in and do what He did. God is going to ask you to do some work on yourself to help you get out of that situation. When you do that work, He will couple it with STRENGTH and He will bring you out just like He did in this passage.

Remember this: “It is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord.” It feels like it is a big thing to you today. It feels like your life is pressing in on you. It feels like you can’t move forward. It feels like you can’t go on another day. It feels like you can’t even see God, and it feels like He might not even want to talk to you. But what you are facing, and the mess you have gotten yourself in is but a SLIGHT THING IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD. Praise the Lord!!!! He knows how to get you out. Stop trying to do it on your own. Humble yourself. SEEK THE LORD like Jehoshaphat did. He will make a way out for you.

I messed my life up so badly, but He has ALWAYS been GRACIOUS. He has always been GOOD. He always sets my feet right back. I did something really bad about twenty years ago, but when I sought him, asked for forgiveness, and did the work, He led me straight out.

I love you so much. I hope this encourages you today.

Answered Prayer

Has God answered your prayer?

Did you cry out to the Lord and He moved you? Has he moved you into a better, new, free place? But have you found out that this place comes with challenges? Have you waited for children and now you know the WORK behind them?Did you want to start your own business but now you have the reality of it?! Did you wait for marriage and now you are seeing the challenges with it?!

Has he answered your prayer but now you are in the place of the challenges that come with that answered prayer?
“Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, and the Lord heard everything they said. Then the Lord’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, and he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp. Then the people screamed to Moses for help, and when he prayed to the Lord, the fire stopped. After that, the area was known as Taberah (which means “the place of burning”), because fire from the Lord had burned among them there. Then the foreign rabble who were traveling with the Israelites began to crave the good things of Egypt. And the people of Israel also began to complain. “Oh, for some meat!” they exclaimed. “We remember the fish we used to eat for free in Egypt. And we had all the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic we wanted. But now our appetites are gone. All we ever see is this manna!” The manna looked like small coriander seeds, and it was pale yellow like gum resin. The people would go out and gather it from the ground. They made flour by grinding it with hand mills or pounding it in mortars. Then they boiled it in a pot and made it into flat cakes. These cakes tasted like pastries baked with olive oil. The manna came down on the camp with the dew during the night.” Number 11:1-9
We remember.
“We remember the fish we used to eat for free in Egypt. And we had all the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic we wanted.”
Do remember the time that the challenges were not there?
We can look at the promises that God has fulfilled in our lives and we can start zoning in on problems of it. We forget the preceptive we had when we were on our knees begging for that promise.
You forget the bondage you were in and now the freedom you have!!!
 Change your perceptive.
We must understand like the nation of Israel, yes, they had that food but they were in bondage. You may have had certain things but you were in BONDAGE and now you are FREE.
Your promise has been fulfilled!!
Remember where God has brought you.
