HAPPY THANKSGIVING TIME!!!!! Of course Thanksgiving can’t go by without us looking into God’s Word, my goodness He has saved me from a lot!!

In the temple, in the Holy of Holies, when the priest would approach the covenant, the Spirit of God would hover above it. This is a HUGE deal!!! We are looking at King David. He had plans to transport the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, because he made a tent for it and was going to place the ark in the tent. They bring in this super important article for the nation of Israel and they place it in the tent. In celebration, King David gave everyone a portion of bread, meat, and raisin cakes while praising God for all He had done for them.

1 Chronicles 16:8-12 (which is from Psalm 105:1-5)

8Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
9Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.
10Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
11Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
12Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments from His mouth,

David goes on and is worshipping before the ark; he is thankful for all that God has done for him. He has such a HEART OF THANKSGIVING!!!

1 Chronicles 17:1-2

1And it came about, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I am dwelling in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under curtains.” 2Then Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”

David was in this incredibly ornate PALACE with anything at his disposal, and it convicted him that he had built a TENT for the ark of the covenant while he was living in this extravagant house of cedar!!!!! David wanted to build a temple for the ark of the covenant. God eventually stopped him and said, “No, no. I don’t want you to do it; I want your son, Solomon, to build it. But, it was good that it was in your heart.”

Here David recognized and spoke of all that God had done for him. God took him from shepherding a flock to leading the nation of Israel!!!! He took from NOTHING and gave him SOMETHING!!! David is saying that he is so thankful for what God has lavishly blessed him with, and that a tent for His dwelling is simply not good enough!! He wants to do something MORE to show honor and glory to His gracious God. He wants to make a beautiful temple to thank the Lord for everything that He has done for him. David wants to do something special for God.

You might by sitting around your Thanksgiving dinner tables later saying, “Thank you God for all that You’ve done for me.” But, I fear that we aren’t willing to go the distance that David did. We say, “Thank you for my job, family, health, friends, home, and food, but God I don’t know if I want to talk about Your name like You want me to. I don’t know if I can do that. You’ve done a lot for me, but I don’t know if I’m that thankful to work for You.”

My challenge to you is to be like David in this passage where he is giving praise to God, saying he is so thankful that he has to do MORE for the Lord!!! A tent just isn’t good enough!! I want to build Him a temple! We need some King David’s in our society. We need some people who are going to stand up and say, “You know, I am so thankful; I have such an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE to my God. I am going to go the distance for Him. I am going to do exactly what He tells me to. I am going to obey Him. I’m gonna get my life in line. I’m gonna do that thing He has asked me to do for so long.” Our world needs some King David’s to go the EXTRA DISTANCE in showing thankfulness!!!!

If you’re thankful, go the distance for the Lord and SHOW HIM how thankful you are!!!! I love y’all!!! I am thankful for YOU!!! I’m thankful for your comments, follows, shares, and likes. I’m thankful for how you love my family. I’m thankful that you are so kind to me. I’m so thankful for how you support me. Happy Thanksgiving; enjoy your turkey and pie!!!!!!!!

Feeling Outnumbered or Alone

This is for you out there who feel OUTNUMBERED. Do you feel like what’s against you is greater than you? Do you feel like what you’re facing is DEFEAT? Do you feel outnumbered by your circumstances? Do you feel like it’s INEVITABLE; divorce is going to happen? Do you feel like you’re standing ALONE when you are with your family? Do you feel like your family is against you? Do you feel like this at CHURCH? You’re wanting to lead the church one way, but they aren’t feeling it. You feel outnumbered, but you know that you know that you know that you are doing EXACTLY what God has given for you!! When the scales are balanced in the natural, the other side is winning.

I’ve just gone through a season of feeling that way. I felt alone, EVEN THOUGH I WASN’T. I felt outnumbered. Although I knew I was doing exactly what God was asking of me, I felt outnumbered.

In those times when you are facing utter and total DEFEAT, and even OBLITERATION, complete EMBARRASSMENT, and HUMILIATION (which happens in the life of faith), go to this passage in 2 Kings. This is about Elisha: he was telling the king of Israel things that the king of Aram was saying behind closed doors. God gave Elisha the incredible gift of prophesying to the king of Israel things that the king of Aram was saying!!! This made the king of Aram very angry; he sent an entire group of chariots and horses to shut him up; Elisha was surrounded.

2 Kings 6:8-20

Now the king of Aram was at war with Israel. After conferring with his officers, he said, “I will set up my camp in such and such a place.”

The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” 10 So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.

11 This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?”

12 “None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.”

13 “Go, find out where he is,” the king ordered, “so I can send men and capture him.” The report came back: “He is in Dothan.” 14 Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.

15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.

16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.

19 Elisha told them, “This is not the road and this is not the city. Follow me, and I will lead you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to Samaria.

20 After they entered the city, Elisha said, “Lord, open the eyes of these men so they can see.” Then the Lord opened their eyes and they looked, and there they were, inside Samaria.

Circled by defeat!! Do you feel circled by defeat today? Elisha CONFIDENTLY trusted in the promises of the Lord’s presence and provision!!! If you are walking in the POWER, STRENGTH, and SURENESS of the Lord, you are not ever outnumbered, even if you stand alone!!!!!!!!

2 Chronicles 32:7-8

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people gained confidence from what Hezekiah the king of Judah said.

Don’t fear. You may seem outnumbered, but you are not!!!!!! He who is walking with us is GREATER than what is against us!!!!!! I hope this encourages you today. Love you guys.
