DON’T LET THE DELAY TRIP YOU UP

If you are struggling with waiting, this is for YOU!!! Waiting is one of those principles in Scripture where lots can happen without anything really happening at all!!! It’s one of the most genius things in the world! When we wait // when God asks us to wait for anything, we develop patience and wisdom without anything really happening. Today, waiting is disrespected, misunderstood, and unwanted. However, waiting has produced amazing things in my life (I had to wait 10 years for my ministry and 3 years for my children – but they came in God’s time), and that is why I am passionate about it!!!

When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, God said, “I want you to come up with me to Mount Sinai; I want to speak to you.” We see in Genesis 31 that this is when God gives him the 10 commandments.

*Exodus 31:18-32:1*

18When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. 1When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

There is a delay of about 40 days when Moses is gone. Since they didn’t know where Moses had gone and there was a delay in him coming down, they immediately wanted and needed something to serve, and they moved their attention from the God to a god.

A lot of times when there is a delay in our lives, we will turn our attention because we don’t agree with the delay. All we see is the delay. We don’t see that God is writing with His finger the ten commandments to give to us via a messenger from Him!!!! We don’t see what He is doing on our behalf in the supernatural. All we see is that there is a delay. Even in the span of 40 days of delay, we will turn our attention from THE GOD to a god!!!

Delay from God doesn’t mean that God is denying you the thing you are waiting for; it simply means there is a delay!!! It’s just taking a while!! He is writing with His finger on tablets to produce the ten commandments (or the like in your own life)!!!!!

There’s been a delay. You’ve asked for something that hasn’t arrived yet, and in your spirit, you are saying, “I don’t know what’s become of God. Where did He go? He must not have been interested. He must have been too busy. He must not care about me. He must not answer my prayers.” You don’t know what’s become of the all-sufficient, ever-present, fully-personal God.

The Israelites say to Aaron, “We don’t know what’s become of Moses.” Then, they make a golden calf to worship.

*Exodus 32:2-4,7-8*

2Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

It is easy to just see the delay and not see how active God is during your delay. There is a reason for your delay. I don’t want you to be like Israel who quickly turns aside and corrupts themselves from serving THE GOD to a god just because of a delay.

BE ENCOURAGED!!!! HE IS AT WORK!!! I promise you that He is at work ON YOUR BEHALF!!! He is so interested in the outcome, and He wants you to trust Him!!!

I love you guys!!

HAVE YOU GOTTEN YOURSELF INTO A MESS

Have you gotten yourself in some trouble? Did you make a bad decision? Did you get on the wrong path? Are you finding yourself in a relationship that has totally gone wrong? Did you start a sinful life pattern? Did you sin in a great way? Did you do something stupid? This is for you!!

God is so GRACIOUS and so FORGIVING, and I’m so thankful for that in my own life. Sometimes, we can make a turn and we do not count the costs and consequences; we don’t count what could happen if we make this decision. If we do this, what’s going to happen?

There are three kings in this passage of Scripture: the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of Edom. They are going to fight Moab. They gather all their armies together to fight Moab. They march for seven days, and they RUN OUT OF WATER!!! You would think three kings would be wise enough to realize that you have to bring enough water on a trip for everyone for seven days. They ran out of water! You cannot live without water!!! What they did was stupid. They were in a big pickle.

2 Kings 3:14-20

14 Elisha said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look at you nor see you. 15 But now bring me a minstrel.” And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him. 16 He said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’ 17 For thus says the Lord, ‘You shall not see wind nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, both you and your cattle and your beasts. 18 This is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord; He will also give the Moabites into your hand. 19 Then you shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and fell every good tree and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’” 20 It happened in the morning about the time of offering the sacrifice, that behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

“This is but a SLIGHT THING in the sight of the Lord.” Did they get themselves in trouble? Yes, they did. But, Jehoshaphat was smart enough to say, “We’ve gotten ourselves into trouble; we’ve done something stupid. We’ve run out of water. We don’t know where to get water. We need to inquire of the Lord.” They go and find Elisha and dig trenches with EXPECTATION that God is going to MIRACULOUSLY fill these trenches with water, and they will have water to drink. He caps off his request to them, his challenge to them, and says, “This is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord.” The Lord saved them!!!!

Have you gotten yourself into trouble? It is time to stop wallowing in guilt, depression, and frustration. You know you did it. You “left without water.” You feel like you can’t go on. You die without water; they felt like they couldn’t go on, because they went seven days without water. You feel like you are at the point of DESPERATION. It is time to STOP WALLOWING!!! Turn to the Lord! SEEK HIM. Admit, “Hey, I did something stupid.” REPENT; ask for forgiveness. Ask for the Lord to help you. Jehoshaphat helped them, gave them clear direction: they had to work; they had to dig a trench, then God was going to come in and do what He did. God is going to ask you to do some work on yourself to help you get out of that situation. When you do that work, He will couple it with STRENGTH and He will bring you out just like He did in this passage.

Remember this: “It is but a slight thing in the sight of the Lord.” It feels like it is a big thing to you today. It feels like your life is pressing in on you. It feels like you can’t move forward. It feels like you can’t go on another day. It feels like you can’t even see God, and it feels like He might not even want to talk to you. But what you are facing, and the mess you have gotten yourself in is but a SLIGHT THING IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD. Praise the Lord!!!! He knows how to get you out. Stop trying to do it on your own. Humble yourself. SEEK THE LORD like Jehoshaphat did. He will make a way out for you.

I messed my life up so badly, but He has ALWAYS been GRACIOUS. He has always been GOOD. He always sets my feet right back. I did something really bad about twenty years ago, but when I sought him, asked for forgiveness, and did the work, He led me straight out.

I love you so much. I hope this encourages you today.

The blind cry

“Amazing grace how sweet the sound.

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now I am found.

Was blind, but now I see.

There is no such moment as one where I am standing on a stage drenched in sweat having completed a message that God has laid on my heart.  I stand most times with my legs trembling begging God for how to challenge the crowd.  I know that in the challenge comes a call for action.  This is someones moment for freedom.  Someone will respond and the message was crafted for that person.  There is nothing like being apart of someones moment.  Being invited in that moment brings tears to my eyes even as I type.  Going to Liberty this year I experienced the same thing.    Sitting at Snow Flex the night before begging God to give me a specific word for the girls to come the following day was intense.  Only God knows the state of the hearts that attend.  He brought me to the following:

Matthew 20:30-34

And two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” The crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but THEY CRIED OUT ALL THE MORE, “LORD, HAVE MERCY ON US.” And Jesus stopped and said, “What do you want to do for you?”

They said to Him, “Lord, WE WANT OUR EYES TO BE OPEN. Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

I got a picture of this for the women of our world.  My eyes filled with tears as I knew that the next day the women that attended would have just that…their blind eyes opened.

“Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

and grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear

the hour I first believed.”

A couple of things that have leaped out to me about this passage:

  1. The blind are crying out – The two blind men just caught wind that Jesus was passing by and in their minds they said, “This is our chance.”  They begged Him to stop and heal them.  They knew they needed His help.  No doubt they had tried all the things that modern time had to offer in an effort to be rid of their blindness and NONE OF IT WORKED.  Today, the blind are crying out.  Some of you may be reading this and thinking I have tried everything and I am at my wits end.  No one cares, no one can help, I am overcome with my issues. Jesus, my sweet friend, is YOUR HELP.  I have seen it hundred maybe thousands of times.  For instance, the issue of porn is rampant not only in the male world, but the female.  I remember a girl that couldn’t get a handle on this issue and it was ruling her life.  After an event, she made a straight B-line for me and said, she had found freedom from this.  NOT BECAUSE OF BLUSH OR WHAT I PREACHED…because our God made her blind eyes see.
  2. The culture is deadening the need for a touch from Jesus – I’m so sick of seeing sex portrayed all over EVERYTHING.  I am so sick of seeing these “Christians” in the media selling their potential for the almighty dollar.  Do we really think sex and money are saviors?  In this passage the crowd “sternly told them to be quiet.”  Our crowd is our culture.  This gets me every time…you can meditate in our culture, but not pray.  You can be scolded to “not have sex before monogamy” BUT YOU DARE NOT PROCLAIM TO BE ABSTINENT. You can consult mediums, but you dare not consult the POWER OF GOD. The crowd is scolding us to do EVERYTHING BUT find the exact true answer for anything in this life, Jesus.  DO NOT LISTEN.  The crowd is a pawn to distract you from the WAY.  I wept with several homeless women in Columbus that looked at me and said, “Where have you been. We have never heard of the hope that is found in Jesus.”  All of those women left Christians with the Tool of the Holy Spirit to guide them out of their dark circumstances.  Their crowd has shushed the Answer.
  3. Jesus asks today, “What can I do for you?” – This is such a beautiful picture of Jesus.  He isn’t pointing the finger at the blind people judging them or passing them by because He is mean.  He stops for just the two of them and asks, “What can I do for you?”  This is a picture of the true Jesus.  GUESS WHAT? He is stopped and asking you the same thing.  What can I do for you, He asks to each of His creations…YOU are included in that.  You are His creation…He is waiting.  What an amazing thought, He is standing their waiting for your answer.  So what is it? We took communion at the conference at Liberty and I heard of a woman that didn’t want to take the communion because she knew that she wasn’t a believer…she was fidgety because she knew that she wanted to have Jesus in her life.  The communion song began and she didn’t know what to do.  One of my staff members saw her run up to a prayer counselor and she prayed and received Christ.  Right after that she went and took communion.  What she needed was Jesus.
  4. Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes and they regained sight – He      was moved at their request.  The text doesn’t say why…He just was. When we present our requests to God when we are sincere and desperate our God is moved.  The picture our world has painted of God is quite the opposite, but picture this…He is moved with compassion for you and your problem. He sees it, He feels it with you and He wants to fix it. I cannot convey what it feels like when we are leaving a conference and cleaning up.  Many times I am talking to ladies for hours hearing of how their lives were changed.  I go back to where I am staying and praise God for His power.  The thought often crosses my mind…what if we didn’t come. This year I stood and talked to ladies that were interested in talking to me.  One came up and her name was Amanda.  She had attended the conference last year and she showed me her wrist which was tattooed with the words, “All in.”  She explained to me that at the conference last year she decided she was “All in” and the conference changed her life.  She gained sight.  She was blind and now she sees.
  5. When touched by Jesus, the once blind followed Jesus – Do you ever wonder why you may not have a passion for Jesus?  Could it be that you have never experienced His power?  Once He touches you, you cannot be the same…you cannot help but follow Him. When freedom is found no amount of noise from the crowd can sway your decision to follow and worship our Lord.  No voice matters but His.  I know, because He changed me and continues to change me everyday.

“The Lord has promised good to me

His word my hope secures

He will my shield and portion be

as long as life endures.”

MY CHAINS ARE GONE, I HAVE BEEN SET FREE.

#freedomfound

Why do we care so much about what other people think? Grrrrrr Insecurity!

Why do we care so much about what other people think? Grrrrrr Insecurity!

Insecurity and women go together like a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or coffee and cream, or ice cream and chocolate syrup. You get my drift? IF YOU ARE A WOMAN, I KNOW THIS IS A STRUGGLE FOR YOU! You are lying if you say it isn’t! There is something about how God made the woman that is sensitive to what others think about them, and how they are viewed! I wish it wasn’t, but we know better don’t we!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Eddie and I have been in full time ministry for about seven years, and I alone before that for a while myself. God has brought me through a load of trials at during my 29 years, and I am feeling more confident in the woman God made me to be these days more than ever. UNTIL, DUM DUM DUM, the other day. The Miles family was headed out to go shop for funiture for our new house, Yay, and as we were leaving my four year old daughter looked at me with a disgusted look on her face and said, “Mom, did you fix your hair today?” I replied, “Yes”, totally annoyed that she asked me that. I told her to go on to the car and I would catch up in a second. I went back to the bathroom and worked on my hair another minute before heading to the car. When I got to the car I asked Eddie what he thought of my hair, and in true “Eddie” form he told me it looked great. I sat in the car totally dumfounded that my four year old daughter in one line made me feel insecure about something as stupid as my hair especially when I fix hers!!!!! Crazy, because people have called me alot of things that I let run off my back, and are really no big deal, but this, my daughter who I love more than anything, made me feel a little weird. Now I know if you are a mom reading this you probably think, just wait, it will get worse!

I say all this to say, I know dear sweet girl you feel insecure when people make a weird comment about you, and you hear about it through a friend.. Or someone looks at you and rolls their eyes. Or you are not invited to a big party that you wish you were. Or maybe you don’t have the money to have all the cool clothes. I remember what it’s like. More importantly, I work with youth, and I see what’s going on. I also know THAT ALTHOUGH THOSE THINGS CAN ROCK YOUR SECURITY, YOU WERE CREATED FOR A PURPOSE THAT ONLY YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH! God also places you in a circumstance that you don’t know why you are in. It might be that you have a physical medical condition, or live in an area that people make fun of. Or maybe you tried out for the cheerleading, or soccer team, and you didn’t make it WHATEVER REASON YOU FEEL INSECURE GOD HAS PLACED YOU THERE FOR A REASON.

When someone misunderstands my passion, or the way that I do what I do, it bothers me for a minute, and then I remember that I was created JUST THE WAY I AM, FOR JUST THE PURPOSE GOD WANTS ME TO DO. You, my beauty, have your quirks, and your circumstance for JUST WHAT GOD WANTS TO DO IN YOU! When I got this idea, that I was perfectly created for a great purpose, I started to become more secure because I am looking for acceptance with God, not man! I am certainly not perfect! Ask my husband! But I was created wonderfully!

In psalm 139, God says He made you fearfully, and wonderfully! Remember that today, when you are feeling insecure. You are wonderfully made. You are wonderfully made. You are wonderfully made. You are wonderfully made. You are wonderfully made.

YOU ARE WONDERFULLY MADE! Claim it girl, YOU ARE AWESOME!
