ARE WE THANKFUL ENOUGH TO GOD TO OBEY HIM?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TIME!!!!! Of course Thanksgiving can’t go by without us looking into God’s Word, my goodness He has saved me from a lot!!

In the temple, in the Holy of Holies, when the priest would approach the covenant, the Spirit of God would hover above it. This is a HUGE deal!!! We are looking at King David. He had plans to transport the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, because he made a tent for it and was going to place the ark in the tent. They bring in this super important article for the nation of Israel and they place it in the tent. In celebration, King David gave everyone a portion of bread, meat, and raisin cakes while praising God for all He had done for them.

1 Chronicles 16:8-12 (which is from Psalm 105:1-5)

8Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
9Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.
10Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
11Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
12Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments from His mouth,

David goes on and is worshipping before the ark; he is thankful for all that God has done for him. He has such a HEART OF THANKSGIVING!!!

1 Chronicles 17:1-2

1And it came about, when David dwelt in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I am dwelling in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the Lord is under curtains.” 2Then Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”

David was in this incredibly ornate PALACE with anything at his disposal, and it convicted him that he had built a TENT for the ark of the covenant while he was living in this extravagant house of cedar!!!!! David wanted to build a temple for the ark of the covenant. God eventually stopped him and said, “No, no. I don’t want you to do it; I want your son, Solomon, to build it. But, it was good that it was in your heart.”

Here David recognized and spoke of all that God had done for him. God took him from shepherding a flock to leading the nation of Israel!!!! He took from NOTHING and gave him SOMETHING!!! David is saying that he is so thankful for what God has lavishly blessed him with, and that a tent for His dwelling is simply not good enough!! He wants to do something MORE to show honor and glory to His gracious God. He wants to make a beautiful temple to thank the Lord for everything that He has done for him. David wants to do something special for God.

You might by sitting around your Thanksgiving dinner tables later saying, “Thank you God for all that You’ve done for me.” But, I fear that we aren’t willing to go the distance that David did. We say, “Thank you for my job, family, health, friends, home, and food, but God I don’t know if I want to talk about Your name like You want me to. I don’t know if I can do that. You’ve done a lot for me, but I don’t know if I’m that thankful to work for You.”

My challenge to you is to be like David in this passage where he is giving praise to God, saying he is so thankful that he has to do MORE for the Lord!!! A tent just isn’t good enough!! I want to build Him a temple! We need some King David’s in our society. We need some people who are going to stand up and say, “You know, I am so thankful; I have such an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE to my God. I am going to go the distance for Him. I am going to do exactly what He tells me to. I am going to obey Him. I’m gonna get my life in line. I’m gonna do that thing He has asked me to do for so long.” Our world needs some King David’s to go the EXTRA DISTANCE in showing thankfulness!!!!

If you’re thankful, go the distance for the Lord and SHOW HIM how thankful you are!!!! I love y’all!!! I am thankful for YOU!!! I’m thankful for your comments, follows, shares, and likes. I’m thankful for how you love my family. I’m thankful that you are so kind to me. I’m so thankful for how you support me. Happy Thanksgiving; enjoy your turkey and pie!!!!!!!!

DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING BUT YOU JUST HAVEN’T?

This is for those of you today who know you need to change. You just know you need to change something; maybe God has revealed it, maybe someone has told you and it has resonated with you, you might have even fought them, you might have been offended when they told you, but internally you know they are actually right. This is for you. You need to change, but you haven’t.

Your word of the day today is DECIDE. Make a decision to change. Make a decision to believe. Make a decision to make a step in the right direction. Hasn’t it been long enough? Decide, decide, decide RIGHT NOW to change!!

In Numbers 13, Moses sent 12 spies into the Promised Land to go scope it out. God said, “Go take the Promised Land; go take it. I’m giving you the victory; it’s yours.” The people freaked out. So, the Lord said to go send 12 spies into the Promised Land. When the spies got to the Promised Land, it was exactly as God said.

Numbers 13:27-33

27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.” 30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” 32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”

I want to tell you what actually happened to the people with a negative report, which isn’t preached about a lot.

Numbers 14:36-37

36And the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land, who returned and made all the congregation grumble against him by bringing up a bad report about the land— 37 the men who brought up a bad report of the land—died by plague before the Lord.

But, Caleb had a different outcome as a result of his following and believing the Lord.

Numbers 14:24

24 But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit and has followed me fully, I will bring into the land into which he went, and his descendants shall possess it.

Twelve spies went into the land and they both saw the same thing. Whatever you’re dealing with today, there is someone else who has walked in your shoes!!! Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, 9What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” There is someone else who has dealt with it; there is someone else who has beat it, chosen to change, and RECEIVED THEIR PROMISE. I personally have gone through a lot of things, and there was a moment when I could stay with the perspective of, “Oh, yeah we could go take the land, but I’m going to be defeated; there are a lot of obstacles there; there are a lot of monsters there.” OR, I could decide to OVERCOME it and have Caleb’s perspective. Yes, there is an obstacle, but we are going to go take it; we are going to go take the land!!

There are two different approaches to victory. One is: “I’m scared, let’s not do it. It’s too hard; it’s too challenging.” The other one is: “We can totally do it with the Lord’s help!!!” What’s the difference? A DECISION.

Caleb and Joshua saw exactly what everyone else saw. They saw the giants; they saw the fortified cities; they saw the obstacles. They saw the issues, problems, and potential harm that could happen to them. Yet, Caleb and Joshua made a decision to believe that God was going to help them; He was going to walk through the Promised Land with them. He was going to help them defeat all of those issues. The other 10 decided to live defeated. Joshua and Caleb did enter the Promised Land, it was 40 years later, but they did enter it. The ten other spies that came back with a bad report perished by a plague because of their decision not to do what God said.

When it comes to us claiming victory, claiming a “Promise Land,” we can stay defeated like those 10 spies and live a defeated life, a life with never seeing what has been promised to us, never seeing our potential. When we stay defeated, defeat becomes our god!!! Or, you can choose and make a decision to believe that God will walk you through the obstacles in the Promised Land to help you overcome it!!!! I am personally challenged by this and it ministers to me, because several years ago I had to make a decision. Am I going to stay defeated in this defeatist mentality where I have 1,000 excuses not to change, and they are pretty valid excuses not to change, and live a life defeated where I am the victim? OR, am I going to choose to believe that, YES, victory is there FOR ME; it’s going to be hard, BUT GOD called me to VICTORY, and He is going to walk with me through the different battles I am going to have to fight?! Who do you want to be? A defeated 10 spy, or a successful 2 spy? They saw the same things, but Joshua and Caleb decided to believe; THEY DECIDED TO CHOOSE VICTORY; they decided, even though there were obstacles, to believe what God said. It’s time for you to DECIDE.

I love you guys! I hope this challenged you today and encouraged you to change; if it did, send me a message!

DON’T LET THE DELAY TRIP YOU UP

If you are struggling with waiting, this is for YOU!!! Waiting is one of those principles in Scripture where lots can happen without anything really happening at all!!! It’s one of the most genius things in the world! When we wait // when God asks us to wait for anything, we develop patience and wisdom without anything really happening. Today, waiting is disrespected, misunderstood, and unwanted. However, waiting has produced amazing things in my life (I had to wait 10 years for my ministry and 3 years for my children – but they came in God’s time), and that is why I am passionate about it!!!

When Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt, God said, “I want you to come up with me to Mount Sinai; I want to speak to you.” We see in Genesis 31 that this is when God gives him the 10 commandments.

*Exodus 31:18-32:1*

18When the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. 1When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”

There is a delay of about 40 days when Moses is gone. Since they didn’t know where Moses had gone and there was a delay in him coming down, they immediately wanted and needed something to serve, and they moved their attention from the God to a god.

A lot of times when there is a delay in our lives, we will turn our attention because we don’t agree with the delay. All we see is the delay. We don’t see that God is writing with His finger the ten commandments to give to us via a messenger from Him!!!! We don’t see what He is doing on our behalf in the supernatural. All we see is that there is a delay. Even in the span of 40 days of delay, we will turn our attention from THE GOD to a god!!!

Delay from God doesn’t mean that God is denying you the thing you are waiting for; it simply means there is a delay!!! It’s just taking a while!! He is writing with His finger on tablets to produce the ten commandments (or the like in your own life)!!!!!

There’s been a delay. You’ve asked for something that hasn’t arrived yet, and in your spirit, you are saying, “I don’t know what’s become of God. Where did He go? He must not have been interested. He must have been too busy. He must not care about me. He must not answer my prayers.” You don’t know what’s become of the all-sufficient, ever-present, fully-personal God.

The Israelites say to Aaron, “We don’t know what’s become of Moses.” Then, they make a golden calf to worship.

*Exodus 32:2-4,7-8*

 2Aaron answered them, “Take off the gold earrings that your wives, your sons and your daughters are wearing, and bring them to me.” So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron. He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’

It is easy to just see the delay and not see how active God is during your delay. There is a reason for your delay. I don’t want you to be like Israel who quickly turns aside and corrupts themselves from serving THE GOD to a god just because of a delay.

BE ENCOURAGED!!!! HE IS AT WORK!!! I promise you that He is at work ON YOUR BEHALF!!! He is so interested in the outcome, and He wants you to trust Him!!!

I love you guys!!
