Don’t Talk Yourself Out of the Promise God Has for You!

Numbers 13:18 – 14:2

18 and see what the land is, and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many, 19 and whether the land that they dwell in is good or bad, and whether the cities that they dwell in are camps or strongholds, 20 and whether the land is rich or poor, and whether there are trees in it or not. Be of good courage and bring some of the fruit of the land.” Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes.

21 So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near Lebo-hamath. 22 They went up into the Negeb and came to Hebron. Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23 And they came to the Valley of Eshcol and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they also brought some pomegranates and figs. 24 That place was called the Valley of Eshcol,[a] because of the cluster that the people of Israel cut down from there.

Report of the Spies

25 At the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who dwell in the land are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. And besides, we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the Negeb. The Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the hill country. And the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and along the Jordan.”

30 But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.” 31 Then the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are.” 32 So they brought to the people of Israel a bad report of the land that they had spied out, saying, “The land, through which we have gone to spy it out, is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people that we saw in it are of great height. 33 And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim), and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”

The People Rebel

14 Then all the congregation raised a loud cry, and the people wept that night. And all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron

When God tells you to go up and take a land, sometimes all the spies are in your head. Some of you are saying ‘YES! Let’s go!’, but then you have a few small voices in your head that are telling you otherwise.

We can talk ourselves out of the blessings God has for us, just like those spies talked a whole nation out of conquering that giant.

You can either say, ‘God has told me to do this but it’s going to be too hard.’

You can say, ‘God has told me to do this and he walks with me!’

Sometimes the spies are in our minds and it’s our job to silence the ones that don’t agree with the Living God!

What is your perspective?

If God has told you to take the land you need to silence any voice that is contrary to that.

Thanks for keeping up with us! We’re all praying for you!

There is nothing worse than waiting. Except for not waiting and wishing you did!

When God doesn’t work when we want Him to it will tank our faith. We don’t wait for God to speak, and we jump on opportunities rather than praying about it.

Trust the wait of God!

If we take the thing we want before we or it are ready, we risk stunting the plans God has for us.

Numbers 9:15-23

The Cloud Covering the Tabernacle

15 On the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony. And at evening it was over the tabernacle like the appearance of fire until morning. 16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day[a] and the appearance of fire by night. 17 And whenever the cloud lifted from over the tent, after that the people of Israel set out, and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the people of Israel camped. 18 At the command of the Lord the people of Israel set out, and at the command of the Lord they camped. As long as the cloud rested over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. 19 Even when the cloud continued over the tabernacle many days, the people of Israel kept the charge of the Lord and did not set out. 20 Sometimes the cloud was a few days over the tabernacle, and according to the command of the Lord they remained in camp; then according to the command of the Lord they set out. 21 And sometimes the cloud remained from evening until morning. And when the cloud lifted in the morning, they set out, or if it continued for a day and a night, when the cloud lifted they set out. 22 Whether it was two days, or a month, or a longer time, that the cloud continued over the tabernacle, abiding there, the people of Israel remained in camp and did not set out, but when it lifted they set out. 23 At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out. They kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by Moses.

It can be so incredibly hard to wait when you don’t see the reason why God had called you to wait. We don’t see the issues or the dangers that lurk around the corner, but God does! God waits, and when He has us wait it sometimes seems confusing or unfair, but He is delaying for important circumstances that you would not want to deal will if you were to move too soon. We see this played out in scripture loads of times. For instance, Abraham and Sarah dealt with this when they had Ismael through Hagar.

When there is a delay, there is a reason.

I implore you to stop worshipping timing. God has given you enough time to do everything that He’s put you on the planet to do.

Trust Him!

People Pleasing Vs Pleasing God

For those of you who are shackled by what people think of you, you won’t act if you think someone else won’t like it. You won’t move forward, for fear of the push back you would get from other people.

This message is for you.

You put more weight in what they think then what God thinks because you don’t have a tangible God standing in front of you telling you what to do.

Judges 13:5

And the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

Fast forward:

Judges 14:1

Samson went down to Timnah, and at Timnah he saw one of the daughters of the Philistines. Then he came up and told his father and mother, “I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah. Now get her for me as my wife.” But his father and mother said to him, “Is there not a woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.”

His father and mother did not know that it was from the Lord, for he was seeking an opportunity against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines ruled over Israel.

God had samson choose a woman from the philistines that his mom and dad didn’t approve of, but God was in that decision.

I’m not saying don’t listen to your parents. I’m not saying to disrespect them. The bible says to honor your mother and father. But I am saying this, my parents have disagreed with me at times, and I respect them.

People who are good and who have good opinions, sometimes they don’t hear directly from God, what God has told you. God may be using a decision in your life that isn’t popular, that won’t be well received, that you may not be applauded for, but

none of that matters if God is in it.

Who do you want to please?

Do you want to please God?

Because God has some pretty good blessings if you listen to him instead.

Here’s the thing, in today’s world people are not following God because faith looks crazy. He has already gone ahead and considered all the options, yet he’s still asking you to do it.

Samson was set apart, to help free bondage, and if he would have listened to his parents push back it might have cost him his in to deliver the nation of Israel from the hands of the philistines

What is everyone telling you can’t do?

‘Don’t you step out in faith it’s not wise.’

Wake up and read the scripture! You wouldn’t be here without the wisdom of God!

I want you to walk in freedom, so what is it that God’s telling you to do?

Walk in the obedience of God.

Has Jesus Shown Up In Your Situation, But You Don’t Recognize Him?

Mark 6:45

And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the sea, they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified.

When he sees them straining, He comes to them. When He comes and walks on water, the disciples assume He was a ghost when in reality He’s their savior. I believe that God sees you. I know He does. His word says that He does. He sees you straining in the wind today, and He comes to calm it. But He might come in a way that you might not recognize. Maybe He’ll show up in a pastor or a small group or a boss, but you disregard it, because you are not looking for Jesus in everything. Maybe he shows up in something that looks scary. So many of the things that God does, we do not understand or comprehend. His ways are higher. His ways are greater.

So, I challenge you today, those of you who are straining, and I want you to watch for Jesus. He may look like a ghost or something so contrary to what you are expecting. That is exactly how God does it. He doesn’t operate biased on your comprehension. He doesn’t operate on your intellect. He operates biased on His. So, look at your life expectantly today.

He loves so much that He comes to us, and He helps us. He may be present in your situation in something that doesn’t look like Him.

He is listening and answering your prayers.

Look for him expectantly.
